Eluned Jones
Professor of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M
University.
Dr. Jones received her PhD from Texas A&M University in 1987. She joined the Agricultural Economics faculty at Texas A&M University in 2002, after 14 years at Virginia Tech, where she Chairs the Intercollegiate Faculty of Agribusiness and is Director of the Master of Agribusiness degree program. She is nationally and internationally recognized for her multidisciplinary research analyzing the role of public and private institutions in the regulation and oversight of food and agribusiness markets, and particularly in emerging market economies. She has authored and co-authored over 80 publications, organized 8 regional and national conferences and organized 7 symposia at regional and national conferences. She has given over 70 invited presentations at international or national conferences including recent business audiences such as the Food Update Foundation, Plant International, American Association of Cereal Chemists and a Webcast co-sponsored by Reed Business Publications and FMC Food Tech. She has provided research, outreach and education assistance in Ecuador, El Salvador, Bulgaria, Haiti, Nicaragua and Poland and via video-conference to Mexico.
Dr. Jones is a co-recipient of awards for excellence from the Southern Agricultural Economics Association and the American Society of Agronomy, and is a Fellow of the Kellogg-funded Leadership Development Program at the National Center for Food and Agricultural Policy in Washington, DC.
Dr. Jones has served two terms as Chair of the AAEA Extension Committee and one term as Chair of the Food and Agricultural Marketing Policy Section of the AAEA. She has also served as Chair of the Southern Extension Marketing Committee and of the multi-disciplinary Wheat Industry Resource Committee associated with the National Association of Wheat Growers. She was an academic advisor to the Soybean Committee of the Grain Quality Workshops and appointed, by Secretary Madigan, as an academic advisor to the Federal Grain Inspection Service (now GIPSA) Industry Advisory Committee.
In addition to her academic career, Dr. Jones gained practical experience in industry as Assistant Head of Material Evaluation at the International Textile Research Center in Lubbock, Texas, as a Marketing Engineer for Integrated Circuits with Texas Instruments in Midland, Texas, and as Vice-President for Livestock Research with Drexel, Burnham and Lambert, Inc. in Chicago, Illinois.
