Professor in the Department of Agricultural
Economics at Texas A&M University. Research Fellow, Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center.
Received B.A. in Geography
at the University of Colorado (1977) and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Colorado (1986).
Most of my recent research efforts have involved policy analysis
linking risk and uncertainty perceptions to environment or health. Much of this research involves laboratory experiments. I also still do non-market valuation,
connecting microeconomic theory to applied econometrics to be able to estimate values individuals have for health risk reductions and resource changes. Finally, I have recently been active in applying the stated choice experiment approach to the area of transportation (work with Mark Burris and his students).
New papers on risk, uncertainty, arsenic in drinking water, smoking, transportation, and some other topics can be found
at Papers page (click at left).
I typically teach one undergraduate course in environmental and resource economics.
I also teach the PhD course in environmental and resource
economics, as well as a PhD "frontiers" course in environmental and resource economics.
Special Focus:
Risk and Uncertainty, Environmental, Health Economics, Non-market Valuation.
